We expect celebrities to drive the most expensive cars, live in Southern California mansions and jet set to pricey resorts, but some stars go above and beyond the expectations of a lavish celeb lifestyle, spending crazy amounts of money on wildly unnecessary expenses. (Cough, Beyonce.) If spending habits truly reflect values—we think they do, for the record—then these celebrities are demonstrating a few questionable values. Bathtubs, leggings, ghost monitors?? Give us a break.

Blue Ivy’s First Birthday Bash

Celebrity Fix

Beyonce reportedly dropped more than $200,000 on Blue Ivy’s first birthday, which is rumored to have included $95,000 worth of pink and white roses, $30,000 on princess costumes, $80,000 on a custom-made Barbie doll, and more than $25,000 in gift bags for the lucky guests who attended the bash. This diamond-encrusted doll is coated in 160 diamond gems and wears white gold jewelry. The gift bags included jewelry, princess costumes and playhouses. If this is how much Beyonce spends on a birthday Blue Ivy won’t remember, we can’t wait to see how her sweet 16 bash turns out.

Designer Gold and Cashmere Leggings

Most girls prefer leggings in the $5-$12 range, but Beyonce chose to spend $100,000 for a gold and cashmere pair. Beyonce debuted her Balenciaga leggings at the 2007 BET Awards. Unfortunately for Beyonce, these metallic pants won’t match everything in her closet. Stick to the simple black leggings, ladies.

Lady Gaga may not come across as being afraid of a whole lot—daring wardrobe, and all—but the pop star is terrified of ghosts. Lady Gaga brings her $50,000 Electro-Magnetic Field Reader with her everywhere so she can keep any paranormal activity at a distance. Apparently, this ghost detector is not enough, because Lady Gaga also reportedly pays ghost hunters and paranormal investigators to examine every hotel room she stays in. The star claims to be haunted by a ghost named Ryan. Next time you are suspicious of a ghost, forget ghost busters…just call Gaga.

Victoria Beckham is known for setting fashion trends, but paying $35,998 for a Stuart Hughes 24-carat gold iPhone case may have put her a pace behind her fellow trendsetters. With iPhones changing so rapidly, Beckham will either be stuck with an older version of the iPhone or have to pay another thirty-five grand for a different case to fit the new, slimmer size.

The Diamond Bathtub

Kelly Rowland, Beyonce’s best friend and former Destiny’s Child band mate, accidentally announced to the media that Blue Ivy Carter would be a girl. To make up for this slip, Kelly purchased a $5,200 pink Swarovski-crystal-covered bathtub for the baby shower. Beyonce and Jay-Z’s baby girl would certainly outgrow this tub within a year, but the designer suggests the tub can also be used for a pet bath or drink cooler. Hey, we’re all for repurposing.

Suri Cruise, daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, is on her way to becoming the perfect homemaker…or reality TV housewife. Katie Holmes bought her daughter a $49,000 Christmas package, which included a $24,000 Grand Victorian Luxury Playhouse, a toy Mercedes-Benz and an iPad mini. The playhouse is complete with electricity, running water, heat, sunroom and media room—all within a customized floor plan.

Crazy hair comes at a crazy cost. Rihanna is constantly changing her hair color, almost 15 times in one year, and she sports new, edgy styles almost every day. In order to keep up with her “hair reputation,” the star spends $23,000 a week on styling. Her stylist, Ursula Stephen, costs $3,300 per day.

Gwyneth Paltrow named this DeGournay hand-painted wallpaper among the things she “can’t live without.” The décor costs $650 per panel, meaning about $12,000 for each room. The actress, as ever, appears to be on an entirely different wavelength, and might be disappointed to hear most people’s answer to a question of absolute must-haves.

Blessed and Bottled Water

Contact Music

Most of us have our water preferences. Cold, room temp, bottled only… but Madonna sets the standard for high maintenance when it comes to hydration. This music icon spends $10,000 a month on specially blessed Kabbalah water. The singer ships bottles to wherever she is staying and refuses to touch any other kind of h2O. Madonna drinks a lot of water to stay healthy and buys enough of the stuff for her family to stay hydrated too.

When Bono forgot his beloved hat in London, the rock star paid a $1,700 first class plane ticket to fly the headwear from London to Italy. The hat ended up sitting in the cockpit because the flight crew worried it might get squished. Bono received the hat after playing a concert to raise funds for homeless Iraqis. We have to ask: If the hat was worth a plane ticket, how did Bono manage to lose sight of it in the first place?

Donald Trump’s $100 million jet is furnished with 24-carat gold-encrusted seat belts, gold-plated faucets and personal TV screens for every seat. The Rolls Royce engines send this Boeing 757 up to a speed of 500mph. With multiple bedrooms and plenty of couches—complete with plenty of comfy throw pillows—guest could easily miss the subtle golden seat belts altogether.

Amazon Crystal Bathtub

Daily Mail

Daily Mail

Tamara Ecclestone’s father Bernie is the CEO of Formula One and the fourth richest person in Britain. Luckily for Tamara, this meant she could wisely use some of that money to upgrade the place she spends most of her time—the bathtub. The $1.5 million tub was carved out of Amazon rock crystal. Surprisingly, the majority of the price tag was not designated to the exotic crystal itself, but rather the repairs done to Tamara’s floor and from sending five people up the Amazon to gather the crystal.

The Doghouse

Paris Hilton’s dogs enjoy the same celebrity status as the heiress and reality TV star. The dogs have their own Instagram accounts and obviously would not live in anything less than a two-story mini-mansion. The $325,000 dog mansion has heating and air conditioning, designer furniture, upholstered leather seating, automatic lights for nighttime, a balcony, crystal chandelier and a wardrobe any girl would envy. Because, sure, why not?
